Sing for King

CALLING CHORAL SINGERS! Singers are invited to join a community choir for the second annual performance of Trilogy of Dreams, a major musical work to honor Martin Luther King Jr. next January. The piece, composed by Dr. Mack Statham, organist of First United Methodist Church of Laurel, will be performed on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009, at 7 p.m. in a Dr. King celebration sponsored by the city of Laurel and Laurel Clergy Association.

Trilogy of Dreams is a 30-minute composition incorporating three Negro spirituals: Free at Last, Oh, Freedom and . It will be accompanied by organ, piano, and orchestra. It has been performed by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

The first rehearsal will be Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at First United Methodist Church, 424 Main St. Other rehearsals will be the mornings of:

Singers must attend the dress rehearsal and most of the others. New singers must buy a score for $15 at the first rehearsal.
